Alula Alderson, an 11-year-old Oak Grove School sixth-grader, will be one of Scholastic Inc.’s kid reporters for the 2017-2018 school year.
Alderson was selected from a pool of more than 400 applicants from around the world and will soon begin publishing work on the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps website and in issues of Scholastic Classroom Magazines.
According to Brittany Sullivan, a Scholastic communications manager, Scholastic magazines reach more than 25 million students in classrooms across the United States, including Oak Grove’s.
“My fifth grade class read the Scholastic Classroom Magazines together,” said Alderson. “My teacher would assign us a portion of the magazine and I would read the whole thing.”
