Former Oak View man stabbed to death in Ventura

A homeless man is being held in lieu of a $1.5 million bond for the April 18 stabbing death of a former Ojai Valley resident in Ventura.
Jamal Jackson, 49, is charged with premeditated first-degree murder for the death of 35-year-old Anthony Mele of Ventura.
Mele grew up in Oak View and was a graduate of Nordhoff High School.
Mele was dining with his wife and daughter at a Ventura restaurant when Jackson allegedly stabbed him, police said. The reason for the stabbing is still unknown, police said.
He died the next day at a Ventura hospital.
The stabbing was reported at 9:20 p.m. in the Aloha Steakhouse at 364 S. California St.
