Santa came to town a little ahead of schedule this year, putting in an appearance Dec. 18 at the Ojai Police Station. Actually, he’s stopped by for a number of years, helping with the annual Share-iff’s Toy Drive, sponsored by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The program collects toys for children who are in need during the holidays. In Ojai, the volunteers included department secretary Tina Cook and Camarillo department secretary Martha Perez. Deputy John Alvarez, aka Kris Kringle, lent a hand in dispensing gifts to 33 youngsters this year.
