Storm soaks the area, but more needed

El Niño finally paid a visit to the Ojai Valley this week, filling ditches and gutters, downing a few trees and flooding some yards and doorways. The rainfall was caused by a series of storms drifting in from the Pacific Ocean, beginning with a relatively benign low pressure system that passed over Monday and peaking with some particularly heavy rainfall Wednesday.

“The Wednesday storm kept us very busy in Ojai,” said Capt. Mike Lindbery, information officer for the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD). “Most of the calls we got came in a two- to three-hour period during the morning.”
