Oak tree slams apartment

This 250- to 300-year-old oak tree damaged one apartment when it fell Sunday.

A coast live oak toppled Sunday evening at 211 E. Summer St., damaging one apartment in the 10-unit Summer Street Apartments and fell into the yard of a neighboring home. No one was injured

Leah Cardinali thought she was hearing an earthquake when the tree fell at approximately 5 p.m.

“We've thought about it falling,” said Cardinali. “There's a bunch of kids that play there all the time.”

The oak knocked a hole in the apartment's wall.
