Encino man arrested for alleged threats to Caltrans crew

Perry Van Houten, Ojai Valley News reporter
Ojai deputies arrested a Los Angeles County man May 29 in connection with threats he allegedly made to California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) workers at a construction site north of Ojai.
Shortly before 11 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a man threatening a Caltrans crew on Highway 33 near the rock quarry.
“He was not happy about the road being closed, or down to one lane anyway … and he threatened to shoot them or kill them,” said Ojai Police Chief James Fryhoff.
The three female workers saw no weapon, “but they gave a good description of the subject and the vehicle he was driving,” he said.
