NHS hosting Oak Park in pivotal game

In what head coach Lance Wiggins is calling a “playoff-type” game, the Nordhoff High School (NHS) Rangers will host the Oak Park Eagles Aug. 31 in a nonleague matchup.
The Eagles will come to the Ojai Valley with a 0-2 record, but Oak Park is a talented team that will provide another tough test for the Rangers.
“They lost their first two games, but they are always well coached and every time we face them, it is a battle royale,” said head coach Lance Wiggins.
Last season, Oak Park narrowly defeated Nordhoff, 22-18, in a heart-stopping thriller.
The Eagles won’t be eager to face Nordhoff’s Brayden Rogers who had a huge game a season ago. Rogers rushed for 228 yards on 27 carries and he ran for three touchdowns.
“We need to come out and play with aggression. Our kids have been looking forward to this one for quite a while, it’ll be a good challenge for us,” added Wiggins.
Oak Park dropped its opener to Peninsula High School, 42-21, and then in Week 2 Righetti took down the Eagles, 49-21.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Ojai Valley Community Stadium.
