'Tis the season to be jolly in Ojai this week and next with lots of fun events

 Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.: Nordhoff Theatre Arts perfomance of comedy, Nordhoff High Black Box, Room B-4:

Nordhoff High School Theatre Arts will perform "The Foreigner" in the Nordhoff High School Black Box, Room B-4, on Friday, Dec. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 14.
Performances will be  Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
"The Foreigner" is by Larry Shue and is directed by John Hoj.  Tickets are available at www.NordhoffDrama.org.
Tickets for the evening performances are $15 general admission and $10 for students. 
Tickets for the matinee performances are $10 general admission and $7 for students.

Ojai Art Center Theater production of the musical by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, co-conceived with Eric Idle, will be performed Dec. 13 through 15 at 113 S. Montgomery St., Ojai; 805-640-8797. Performances are Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 15, at  2 p.m. Tickets are $25; seniors $20; under 25 $10.

 Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2:30 p.m.: Author talk on book, "Homeless to Happy in a Split Second," at Poppies Art and Gifts

Julie Cara Hoffenberg will read excerpts from her latest book, “Homeless to Happy in a Split Second,” Dec. 15 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the patio at Poppies Art and Gifts, 323 E. Matilija St., Ojai. A book signing will follow.

 

Friday, Dec. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.: Chaparral holiday food drive at Chaparral High

The Chaparral High School hospitality and food service students will be holding their annual holiday food drive Friday, Dec. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The event will take place at the Chaparral Roadrunner’s Cafe in the Chaparral Auditorium kitchen, located
at 414 E. Ojai Ave, Ojai. A holiday-inspired macaroni and cheese dish, white chocolate cocoa and peppermint spring water will be served. A donation is suggested to cover production costs. Chaparral also encourages wearing an old Christmas sweater to the event.
Nonperishable food items for Help of Ojai’s holiday food drive will also be collected. For more information, contact Chaparral High School at 805-640-4330.

Friday, Dec. 13, to Sunday, Dec. 15: Ojai Short Film Fest at Ojai Retreat & Inn and at Sane Living Center

The second annual Ojai Short Film Fest will be Friday, Dec. 13, Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15.
The cost is $15 for entrance to one all-day screening and $35 for a three-day pass. Tickets may be purchased at https://filmfreeway.com/OjaiShortFest/tickets .
The three-day film fest will take place at the following venues:
— Dec. 13: Screenings from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ojai Retreat & Inn, 160 Besant Road, Ojai.
— Dec. 14 and 15: Desktop viewing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, at the Ojai Retreat & Inn.
— Dec. 14 and 15: Screenings from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sane Living Center, 316 E. Matilija St., Ojai.
— Dec. 15: Awards ceremony starting at 7:30 p.m., at Ojai Harvest, 307 E. Ojai Ave.
The film fest is co-founded by producers and filmmakers Sunil Sadarangani of Los Angeles and Aman Segal of Ojai, both originally from India. 
When they say short, they mean short. Each film in the festival is from three minutes to 20 minutes long and they will be screened in blocks, so people will be able to watch six to eight films in the space of an hour to an hour and a half.
