County supervisor candidates' forum Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Oxnard City Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m.

QUIRK WEB1st District supervisor candidate Trevor Quirk of Upper Ojai; 1st District supervisor candidate Matt LaVere is unable to attend.

The Oxnard Inter-Neighborhood Council held a supervisor and ballot initiatives forum on Wednesday, Feb. 5, for Ventura County supervisor districts 1, 3 and 5, at 6:30 p.m. There was a “meet-and-greet” followed by a 7 p.m. meeting.

The forum was recorded and can be viewed at:

District 1 covers primarily Ojai Valley and Ventura; District 3 covers primarily Santa Paula, Fillmore and Camarillo; and District 5 covers primarily Oxnard and Port Hueneme.
Attorney Trevor Quirk of Upper Ojai is running as a write-in candidate for District 1. Attorney Matt LaVere of Ventura and hardware clerk Jeff Ketelsen of Ojai are on the ballot for the March 3 primary ballot. If a candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote in the primary, he will be elected and take office later in the year. If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote in the primary, there will be a runoff election between the top two vote-getters for supervisor in the November general election.
Quirk attended the forum. LaVere and Ketelsen did not.
The meeting was held at 305 W. Third St., Oxnard.
Jack Villa, chair of the Oxnard Inter-Neighborhood Council, facilitated the meeting with Vice Chair Gabriel Teran.
