Ojai Valley residents can weigh in on the county’s proposed roadmap for future development, at a Ventura County Planning Commission meeting set for July 16 at 8:30 a.m. at the Ventura County Government Center Hall of Administration, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura.
The public is invited to attend the hearing on the Draft 2040 General Plan and Program Environmental Impact Report via Zoom and in person. Those who attend in person will have temperature checks, be required to wear a face covering unless they have a medical exemption, and adhere to social distancing.

The public can view the livestreamed meeting while it is both in session, and recorded for later viewing, at www.vcrma.org/planning-commission.

The 2040 General Plan is a long-range planning document that covers a wide range of topic areas, from future population and employment growth to resource and cultural resource protection.

The draft plan also includes elements addressing climate change, agriculture, economic vitality and water resources.

The plan has been revised over the years, but this would be the first comprehensive update since 1988.

The update process on the plan began in 2016. It will have a 20-year planning horizon, through 2040.

The draft plan and EIR were released to the public in January. Public comments received on the documents will be presented to the Ventura County Planning Commission at Thursday’s meeting, along with the county’s recommended revisions to the documents.

At the meeting, held via teleconference due to COVID-19 restrictions, the public can hear the county’s submission of the draft plan and EIR, and provide comments.

The Draft 2040 General Plan and EIR are available online at www.vc2040.org/or www.vcrma.org/divisions/planning.
