The July 13 Ventura County Public Health prohibition applies to "members of a team gathering together for games, practices, physical conditioning, drills and any other group activity that involves two or more persons gathering at the same place and time for an organized team activity,” according to the July 13 county Public Heath directive.

The July 13 directive exempts professional teams, which the release states, “may be covered by a separate order.”

Day camps are regulated differently, according to the press release: “The California Department of Public Health guidance on day camps, which has been approved for implementation by the county health officer, permits recreational activities that involve day campers sharing toys and equipment, provided the campers comply with social-distancing requirements.

“Neither the guidance on day camps, nor any other guidance issued by the CDPH, shall be construed to permit organized team sports activities contrary to the intent of this order.

On July 20, CIF determined, in collaboration with its 10 sections, that education-based athletics for the 2020-2021 school year will begin with a modified season of sport schedule.

The three traditional high school sports seasons – fall, winter and spring – are now scheduled to be played between December and June and will be condensed into two seasons, fall and spring.

The calendar reflects the season for each CIF sport and the last date for Section Championships and Regional/State Championships in those sports where a Regional/State Championship is currently offered. Following this announcement, each CIF Section Office will release their own calendar to reflect regular season starting and ending dates and Section playoffs. It is anticipated that most Section start dates will commence in December 2020 or January 2021.

Each of the bylaw modifications are effective for the 2020-21 school year only.
