Update on start of school year to be given to Ojai school board Wed., Sept. 9

Other agenda items include:

— A presentation on the Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan, to address how student learning is being addressed during the pandemic in the 2020-21 school year.
Other items on the agenda include:
— Discussion of purchase of a “Foamsteam Cleaning System” for $26,000 — funded with COVID-19 revenue. The system uses a low-pressure process combined with heat to produce a biodegradable foam to be used for sanitizing playground equipment, outdoor tables and other areas. It can also be used to clear areas of weeds.
— Revisit agreement with Valley Oak Charter regarding the provision of special education services to charter students. The agenda item information states that the model Valley Oak Charter prefers, of four listed options, is that OUSD receives special education funds and provides special education services to the charter school students. The school board is asked “to provide input and guidance on the available options, which will be incorporated into revised MOU” (memorandum of understanding).
— Discussion brought up at the last school board meeting for a draft school board agenda to be provided to the public in advance of the official agenda, “in order to give the public as much notice as possible regarding issues of interest.”
Also, that “public comments for each board meeting be posted in a public folder as soon as they are received (again, to provide the public with information as soon as it is available.”
— Recognize the OUSD parent-teacher organizations.
— Adopt a resolution recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month.
— Ratify Goalbook software for special education staff
— Update on the Measure J school bond funds, to include a refresh of Matilija Library, Meiners Oaks landscaping, Nordhoff High School painting, library at Meiners Oaks.
— Discussion of relocating Meiners Oaks library to Meiners Oaks Elementary School.

— Consideration of approving a contract for the Nordhoff Pool Equipment Replacement Project, including removal and replacement of the old pool heater, filter and chemical controller.
