County nears COVID-19 red tier

Ventura County could move to the the state’s COVID-19 red tier on Oct. 6 with a current weekly average case rate of seven per 100,000.
As of Oct. 1, there were 12,867 people who had ever been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ventura County, and 704 active cases under quarantine.
Out of the 12,867, 129 were in Ojai and 69 in Oak View. Seven of the Ojai cases and four of the Oak View cases came in the last 14 days. Positive tests came Sept. 18, 21 (7), 25 (2) and 28.
Forty-one people were in the hospital with COVID-19 countywide as of Oct. 1. Eight people were in intensive care units.
A total of 150 people are reported to have died from the virus in Ventura County. Ten were in Ojai and two in Oak View. Five of these deaths came in the last 14 days.
