VC reports 72 new COVID-19 cases; county a week away from return to purple tier

With the California COVID-19 reopening tiers updated today, Ventura County is now a week away from a return to the state's most restrictive purple tier for reopening. 
The county currently has an adjusted case rate of 7.2 new cases per day per 100,000 residents. In order to remain in the current red tier, VC must maintain a case rate of 7.0 or below. 
If the county remains above 7.0 next Tuesday, it will fall back to the purple tier.
Ventura County Public Health reported the following COVID-19 numbers for Ventura County on Tuesday:
-72 new cases since yesterday
-15,459 total cases
-14,337 recovered cases
-951 active cases under quarantine
-228,408 people tested
-35 hospitalizations
-5 in the ICU
-171 deaths
