County reports 72 new COVID-19 deaths this week

As of Jan. 28, there were 68,397 people who ever were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ventura County, and 4,529 active cases under quarantine.
This was an 864-case jump from the day before. Out of these 68,397, 862 were in Ojai and 301 in Oak View.
A total of 373 people were in the hospital with COVID-19 countywide as of
Jan. 28. Eighty-eight were in the ICU Jan. 28. Under eight percent of ICU beds were available, according to a state calculation based on the high percentage of COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
A total of 579 people are reported to have died from the virus in Ventura County. Nineteen were in Ojai and four in Oak View.
Seventy-two new deaths were reported across the county this week.
