OUSD board to approve budget and evaluate superintendent June 21

Ojai Unified School District will hold a special meeting via videoconference on Monday, June 21, starting at 5:30 p.m. in open session to adopt spending and learning plans for the coming school year. In closed session, at the end of the meeting, the board will evaluate the performance of the superintendent.

The board will also approve the Local Control Funding Formula budget overview for parents, the Local Control Accountability Plan and the LCAP annual update, and the Learning Continuity Plan:

This closed session performance review of the superintendent will mark the fourth review by the board this year. Previous closed sessions for the superintendent's performance review in 2021 were Feb. 10, Feb. 16 and April 20. An amendment to the superintendent's contract was also on the March 10 OUSD agenda. The minutes of the March 10 meeting state that a raise would be considered for the superintendent after the budget was reviewed. The school board will vote on the budget at its June 21 meeting.

When the school board set its calendar on Dec. 14, 2020, for regular board meetings in 2021, the regular scheduled meetings for June were set for June 2 and June 30. The OUSD June 21 agenda states the closed session is for a performance review of the superintendent and does not reference an amendment to her contract. According to California Government Code 54956(b): "A legislative body shall not call a special meeting regarding the salaries, salary schedules, or compensation paid in the form of fringe benefits, of a local agency executive..."

Comments will be received in two ways.

1. Prior to 4 p.m. the day of the meeting.

2. During the meeting in the Board Room at 414 E. Ojai Avenue.

The public may also make comments in person in the board room at 414 E. Ojai Ave.
