The school board resolution provided for the Sept. 8 meeting reads:

Whereas, Parent-Teacher Organizations in the Ojai Unified School District currently have rosters of parents, teachers and community members who act as a valuable resource for starting and maintaining programs and projects to benefit all children, youth, and the community; and

the primary reason for developing membership in the Parent-Teacher Organizations is to build an informed team of individuals to work on behalf of all children

and youth; and

Parent-Teacher Organizations have demonstrated many years of dedication in promoting parent and public involvement in schools and communities; and

Parent-Teacher Organizations promote united efforts by educators and the general public that will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, spiritual and social education; and research provides substantial evidence that children whose families provide a caring and supportive environment and are actively involved in their schools have a higher probability of personal and academic success; and

statistics also show that the highly successful schools have active parent and community involvement; and

parent and teacher cooperation in public schools will contribute significantly to the opportunities for all of our children to be successful in school, and will better prepare pupils for the job market of the 21st century; and

the Senate of the State of California, Assembly of the State of California, and the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Office have commended parents, grandparents, and other citizens who have been involved in their schools and communities; and now,

Therefore, Be It Resolved, the Ojai Unified School District Board of Education herebyproclaims September 2021 as Parent-Teacher Organizations Membership Month.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, some PTOs/PTAs are not allowed to hold their meetings on their campuses, according to district officials.
