Fryhoff event set for Sept. 25

web provided James Fryhoff

An East End couple will host a free event Sept. 25 in support of a former Ojai Chief of Police who’s running for Ventura County Sheriff.

The event, from 3-5 p.m. at the home of Elizabeth and Garth Rose, will include food, live music and Ventura County Sheriff’s Commander James Fryhoff speaking about his vision for the agency, the couple stated in a news release.

“There is no doubt in my mind, Jim is the right person for this job,” said Liz Rose.

Rose met Fryhoff four years ago when she interviewed him for the Thomas Fire anthology, “From the Fire,” which she was working on at the time. “We quickly became friends, and I was able to see him in action — as the Chief of Police here in Ojai, and as this wonderful husband and father and friend,” Rose said.

“What I love is Jim’s vision for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office — to foster and nurture the relationship between the community and the Sheriff’s Office,” Rose stated.

“He is committed to ‘utilizing technologies to enhance collaborative efforts at reducing crime and improving public safety’ while recruiting, retaining and promoting ‘a diverse group of applicants that refl ect and represent the Ventura County community.’ His vision is a testament to his inclusive and expansive nature,” according to the release.
