11-8-21, Donald L. “Pop” Cook, 101

Donald L. “Pop” Cook, 101 years old, of Ojai, CA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Nov. 8, 2021, at Ojai Valley Hospital.

Pop was born on April 16, 1920, in San Rafael, CA. Pop entered the U.S. Navy in July 1942. He served in WWII overseas, in the Aleutian Islands.

Pop was an architect in the Ojai Valley for approx. 60 yrs., where he designed residences and businesses.  Many of the homes that make the Ojai Valley unique and beautiful were designed by him.

Pop was a kind, funny, and generous man. He didn’t know a stranger. He was “Pop” to so many in the Valley.

One of his loves was cars. He had more Corvettes and Mustangs than you could keep track of. Pop also enjoyed playing golf with his sons and grandsons, as well as spending time with his extended family.

He was preceded in death by wives: Alice Cook, Ella Cook, and Linda Cook. His sons: Gary Dye, Donald L. Cook, Jr., and James Cook.

He is survived by sons: Stephen Cook and wife Suzanne, Jon R. Cook, Michael P. Cook, and John Cook; daughter-in-law: Marge Dye; grandchildren: Richard Curl, Jacob Kunde,  Jeffrey Dye and wife Tonya,

Sarah McLean and husband John, Becky Coons and husband Rodney.

Robert Cook and wife Angela, Richard Cook, Michael Cook, Kevin Cook, and wife Valerie;

great-grandchildren: Robert Cook, II, Jacob Kunde, II, and wife Krissey, Cameron Kunde, Stacey McElveen, Brandon McLean, Kaylie McLean, and Trevor Dye;

great-great-grandchildren: Jacob Kunde, III, and Riley McElveen. 

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life, as yet to be planned, due to the size of “Pop’s” family and their diverse locations.
