The nonprofit Ojai Unified School District Family Fund is launching a gift-card program called Holiday Family Tree to assist families in need with gifts and meals during the holiday season.

Last year, the event raised more than $7,000 in gift cards that went to more than 100 different families throughout the community.

The Family Fund was launched to help students and families access resources they need to learn and participate in school.

The Family Fund provides bicycles, clothes, school supplies and after-school-care funding, and covers some school-related expenses such as sports fees.

Those looking to donate to the nonprofit can do so at, or by submitting a check addressed to “OUSD Family Fund.”

Gift cards and checks can be dropped off at the Ojai Unified District Office, 414 E. Ojai Ave., during regular business hours.

The deadline for drop-offs and donations is Wednesday, Dec. 8.
