Oak View is set to hold a Christmas Parade featuring Santa, carolers and decorated classic cars on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m.

The parade will go from Sunset Avenue, to East Oak View Avenue/Donna Street, to Monte Vin Street and Burnham Road.

The four-neighborhood parade is hosted by volunteers, including Casey Ameche and Barbara Kennedy.

“I thought it would be really special for a kid to just step outside their home and see Santa coming down the road,” said Ameche. “With COVID, a lot has changed and this is a way to bring Santa to everyone who can’t leave their homes, or don’t feel safe leaving their homes.”

The event is held in honor of the Oak View community.

“I’ve met wonderful people in planning this and couldn’t do any of it without the help of Barbara Kennedy, who runs the Oak View Resource Center,” said Ameche.

The group is hosting a meeting on Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Oak View Resource Center at 9 a.m. in the hopes of gaining more volunteers and sharing information.

While this is the first event of its kind, Ameche does not intend on it being the last. “We would love to see this become an annual event for decades to come,” said Ameche.

More information on the parade, including a map of the route, can be found on their Facebook page at:

“Whether or not you celebrate the holidays, the intention of the event is to bring joy,” said Ameche. “It’s been a crazy couple of years and we need this now more than ever, so please decorate your homes, come out to see the parade, and have fun!”
