A free opening reception for the “Ojai Visions” exhibition, featuring Ojai Studio Artists, will be held Jan. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts in Upper Ojai. (This is a new time from the time that was first reported.)

The public is invited to attend the reception on the back patio, which features views of Happy Valley.

The exhibition is installed in the center’s Beato Gallery and Logan Gallery and continues through Feb.  26.

The event partners two Ojai-based nonprofit organizations — Ojai Studio Artists and the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts — that promote the arts and education.

OSA is a nonprofit community educational organization, working to promote art awareness, preparing the next generation of artists, and celebrating the importance of the arts within the region.

To date, OSA has given more than $200,000 in art scholarships. It also purchases art books for local libraries, partners with schools in teaching classes and mentoring students, supports public art projects and other community programs.

The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts is an activity of the Happy Valley Foundation, committed to maintaining an educational center that nurtures spiritual, artistic and intellectual growth as well as physical and mental well-being.

In creating the foundation in 1927, Annie Besant shared a vision that included a school and an art center. The foundation created the school in the 1940s in Ojai, moving to the Happy Valley Foundation in Upper Ojai in the early 1970s, at the same time that Beatrice Wood was invited to build her home there, to become the art center.

Today, the Besant Hill School of Happy Valley and the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts carry on Besant’s vision.

The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts is at 8585 Ojai-Santa Paula Road in Upper Ojai.
