Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Riverside County man Feb. 9 on suspicion of possessing child pornography and sending harmful matter to a female juvenile from Ojai.

In July, deputies in Ojai took a report about a juvenile female who was being sent harmful matter by a suspected male adult over social media, according to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives identified 26-year-old Seth Burdelas of Murrieta as a suspect in their investigation, authorities said.

On Feb. 9, detectives with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, Sheriff’s Gang Unit and the Southern California High Tech Task Force served a search warrant at two residences associated with Burdelas in the cities of Murrieta and Wildomar, according to VCSO.

Burdelas was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for sending harmful matter and possession of child pornography, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

During a forensic examination of evidence seized during their search, detectives found further evidence linking Burdelas to the crime and more evidence of child pornography, stated VCSO.

Burdelas was arraigned on the charges Feb. 14. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and his bail was set at $50,000. He has since posted bail and is out of custody.

According to online court records, a defense request to reduce bail or release Burdelas on his own recognizance was denied.

Burdelas is due back in court April 27 at 1:30 p.m. for an early disposition conference, court records showed.

VCSO believes there could be additional victims and its investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information on Burdelas or the case can call Detective Corey Stump at the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit at 805-384-4745.
