3-3-22, Harold Nels Rosengren, Jr., M.D., 82

Harold Nels Rosengren, Jr., M.D., age 82, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, in Ventura, CA, after a brief illness.

Harold was born in Seattle, Washington, to Dr. Harold Rosengren and Dr. Edith Gordon Rosengren on April 17, 1939.

He went to West Seattle High School, graduating in 1957. He started college at Dixie College in St. George, Utah,

and then transferred to the University of Utah, before gaining early entry to the University of Washington Medical School.

He interned at Philadelphia General Hospital prior to entering the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Holloman Air Force base in Alamogordo, NM, as a physician during the Vietnam War.

He then completed his residency at Wadsworth VA Hospital in West Los Angeles, and Long Beach VA Hospital,

before beginning his medical career as a board-certified internist in both Internal Medicine and Allergy-Immunology in Beverly Hills, CA.

He married Katherine Miller in 1970, and in 1972, they moved to Ventura, CA. Harold donated his time to the Ventura County Allergy Clinic,

forming a longtime friendship with colleague Dr. James Villaveces, and became the first full-time allergist in Ventura County.

He continued in private practice in Ventura and Oxnard for 39 years, and after Harold’s retirement in 2011, he continued working part-time, alongside his colleague, Dr. Sanjiv Verma, for another 9 years.

Harold enjoyed building relationships with his patients in a career that spanned five decades — these relationships often grew to serve families intergenerationally.

Harold enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, proudly driving his Porsche, water skiing, and snow skiing.

He loved card games and spending quality time with his family. An active Ventura community member,

Harold could be seen at performing arts events as a member of the Board of Channel Islands Ballet Company,

or sports fields around town, cheering on his children and later his grandchildren.

He will be remembered as a wonderful employer, a kind doctor with excellent bedside manner, and a good man, who always put family first.

Harold is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katherine Rosengren, of Ventura, CA; brother, Phillip Rosengren, D.D.S (Linda) of Renton, WA; sister-in-law, Viola Rosengren, Renton, WA;

children Rebecca Tsivkin (Roman) of New York, Nels Rosengren, Jared Rosengren (Franca) of Ventura, CA, Sabrina Rosengren (Devin) of Los Angeles, CA,

and Carley Rosengren of Ventura, CA; grandchildren Noam Tsivkin, Arianna Tsivkin, Scata Rosengren, and Enzlo Rosengren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Harold Nels Rosengren and Dr. Edith Gordon Rosengren, and brother, Gordon Rosengren, D.D.S.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11 a.m., in the Boyko & Reardon Telegraph Road Mortuary & Cremation,

located at 15 Teloma Dr., Ventura, CA 93003. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9 – 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ventura County Lung Association in his honor. For donations, call 805-653-6371.
