Ojai Art Center offers free workshops

Ojai Art Center gives the community the gift of learning this spring.

Two free workshops offer unique educational experiences for youngsters and adults. Award-winning director Gai Laing Jones will donate her time to inspire local theater-lovers, and help youth shore up their stage presence.

• READ AND TALK: Tuesdays, March 22 to April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In this six-week workshop, adults read and discuss classic humorous and serious plays important in American theater. 

• ACE IT: Wednesdays, March 23 to April 13, 6 to 7:15 p.m.
Four-week workshop in which elementary-school-age students learn to present themselves in a confident manner, including audition tips. 

The workshops will be held in person at the Ojai Art Center in the Raymund Room.

Laing Jones (http://www.gaijones.com) taught Drama at El Dorado High School for 34 years. She serves on the boards of California Educational Theatre Association, Drama Teachers Association of Southern California, and Ojai Art Center Theater. On the Educational Theatre Association Board of Directors, she serves as past president and received the EdTA President’s Award. She teaches elementary, middle, high school, and college level educational theater, along with professional development for theater educators and senior actors.
