'Yes on Measures A & B' forum on modern-day environmental reviews for new oil and gas drilling

The event was hosted by the Chalice Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Conejo Valley.

Participating in the forum is Steve Colomé of Ojai, who has a doctorate in Environmental Health Sciences from Harvard University, with an emphasis on air pollution.

He serves on the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District Advisory Committee.

Among those joining him were Julie Henszey, field director for the local environmental organization, VC-SAFE (Ventura County-Save Agriculture and Fresh water for Everybody). She discussed Measures A and B on the Ventura County ballot in the June primary. Ballots are expected to arrive in the mailboxes of registered voters on May 9.

Topics for the forum include:

• Environmental-review exemptions for “antiquated” permits issued prior to 1970.

• Impacts on health, safety, local water, air and soil.

• What people can do to help pass Measures A and B.

VC-SAFE is a coalition of Ventura County individuals and groups, including Food & Water Watch, Los Padres ForestWatch, Patagonia and CAUSE.
