Friday, April 22 is the deadline for all community organizations to submit applications for grant funding from the City of Ojai for the next — 2022-2023 — fiscal year. Applications must be received by the city no later than April 22.

At the April 12 Ojai City Council meeting during the discussion item on the city’s budget for the next fiscal year the staff report noted that the current proposed budget for 2022-23 includes $103,000 allocated for community ground funding, which is a reduction from $204,000 from last year's allocation.

The 2021-22 fiscal year community funding was awarded to Ojai Valley Fire Safe Council ($50,000), Independence Day Event ($2,000), Ojai Valley Museum ($50,000) and the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce ($102,000).

The funding allocation for next fiscal year has not yet been formally approved by the city council and will be discussed at a future budget workshop meeting of the council.

To be eligible for grant funds under the City’s Community Service Grant Program, an applicant must operate as a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization or 501(c)(6) chambers of commerce; funds must be used to directly provide a social service, educational, cultural, beautification or program to serve the Ojai residents and/or businesses; and the organization may not restrict participants based upon race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, disability, medical condition, or age.

The city requires hard copies only of the application be submitted via mail or hand delivery to: Ojai City Hall, Attn: Kristy, 401 S. Ventura Street, Ojai, CA  93023.
