April 22 deadline for community service grants

Friday, April 22, is the deadline for all community organizations to submit applications for grant funding from the city of Ojai for the 2022-23 fiscal year. 

At the April 12 Ojai City Council meeting, the staff report noted that the proposed budget for 2022-23 includes $103,000 allocated for community grant funding, which is a reduction from $204,000 from last year’s allocation. 

The 2021-22 fiscal year community funding was awarded to Ojai Valley Fire Safe Council ($50,000); Independence Day event ($2,000); Ojai Valley Museum ($50,000); and the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce ($102,000). 

The funding allocation for next fiscal year has not yet been formally approved by the City Council and will be discussed at a future council budget workshop. 

To be eligible for grant funds under the city’s Community Service Grant Program, an applicant must operate as a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization or 501(c)(6) chambers of commerce. 

In addition, funds must be used to directly provide a social service, educational, cultural, or beautification program to serve the Ojai residents and/or businesses; and the organization may not restrict participants based upon race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, disability, medical condition, or age.The city requires hard copies only of the application be submitted via mail or hand delivery to: Ojai City Hall, Attn: Kristy, 401 S.
