Two Santa Paula High School track students and their school bus driver were taken to Ventura County Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries after a school bus rolled over on South Mountain Road west of Santa Paula on April 22. They were on their way to a Ventura County track championship in Moorpark. Nine students, their track coach and a school bus driver were all in the bus when it overturned.

Bus12 copyCrews responded to a call that came in at 2:01 p.m. about an overturned school bus in a ditch.

California Highway Patrol officers reported that all passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The bus was transporting nine student members of the Santa Paula High School track and field team.

The incident was reported at 20385 South Mountain Road. The cause of the accident is being investigated, but Coach Frank Jordan said he thought the bus driver took corrective action to avoid a truck traveling toward the bus on the wrong side of the narrow two-way road with ditches on either side.
