77-year-old Ojai man is out every day chasing his dreams

Everett “Doc” Murdock, of Meiners Oaks, is setting a pace runners half his age can only dream of.
Nearly every afternoon, the 77-year-old college professor runs as fast as he can, uphill on Lomita Avenue, as part of his training regimen.
He’s preparing for the steeplechase competition at the 2018 World Masters Athletics Championships in Málaga, Spain.
Steeplechase is a five-lap, 2,000-meter track event in which athletes jump over five 30-inch-high barriers per lap, including one barrier that leads into a 12-foot-long water pit.
