Senate passes Houck Act

Part of the long-sought transportation bill, the Raechel and Jacqueline Houck Safe Rental Car Act has passed in the U.S. Senate. It now moves on to the House of Representatives.
The bill is named after two Ojai girls who were killed in 2004 while driving a rented PT Cruiser that was under a safety recall, but was never repaired. Their mother, Cally Houck, has been fighting to get legislation passed both at the state and federal level for more than a decade.
