City officials search vacant bowling alley

Ojai city officials are keeping tight-lipped regarding an inspection warrant served earlier this week on the site of a former bowling alley at the east end of town. “We have been advised not to comment on code enforcement cases,” Ojai City Manager Rob Clark said Wednesday. “I can’t talk about any specific details of this case while it is still under investigation.”

Douglas LaBarre, who manages the property at 1202 E. Ojai Ave., said Ojai building officials Steve Stuart and Larry Beem were present at the inspection, which took place around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A locksmith and a deputy from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office also were present, according to LaBarre, along with attorney Amanda Pope from the Irvine-based law firm of Silver & Wright LLP.
