County hit with Punchbowl lawsuit

Conservation groups have filed a lawsuit against the County of Ventura saying its planning department has violated the law in failing to conduct a complete environmental review of a plan to add 19 oil wells along the popular Punchbowl hiking trail near Thomas Aquinas College in Upper Ojai.

On Tuesday, the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas (CFROG) and Los Padres ForestWatch (LPFW) jointly filed a civil suit in Ventura County Superior Court. They are represented by the Hermosa Beach-based Chatten-Brown and Carstens, a law firm specializing in California environmental law.
