City delays action on commissioner absences

The Ojai City Council voted to continue a consent calendar item titled “Consideration of Annual Commissioner Attendance Reports and Removal of Commissioners with Excessive Absences” Tuesday evening, citing “errors” in the accompanying report.

The report, prepared by City Clerk Rhonda Basore, identified city commissioner absences from commission meetings during 2015.

Standards for commission meeting attendance, detailed in the city commission handbook adopted by the Council, say that an office will be deemed vacant and the term of a commissioner terminated if a commission member is absent from three consecutive meetings, or four meetings within a 12-month period.
