No stays, no way: City decides against allowing vacation rentals

In a unanimous vote Tuesday, the Ojai City Council decided to make no changes to the city’s laws prohibiting short-term rentals within the city limits.

“The online business model circumvents and undermines community zoning laws,” said Councilwoman Betsy Clapp. “It is also an assault on legitimate, licensed business who are playing by the rules.” She was referring to web-based companies, including Airbnb and VRBO, that provide a platform for people to list and fill vacation rentals.
