Oil well proposal hearing next week

A proposal for three new oil wells at an Upper Ojai oil field is set to be heard April 7 by the Ventura County Planning Commission. The request would extend existing permits for the project through 2040 and would open Koenigstein Road to truck traffic to and from the site.

Ventura County Planning Director Kim Prillhart and staff presented the project to the Ojai City Council March 22, after Ojai-based Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas (CFROG) discovered a map error in the project file putting the project within the boundaries of the Ojai Valley Area Plan.
