School closure talks to resume

The Ojai Unified School District (OUSD) Board plans to revisit the subject of possible elementary school closures even as the District prepares to welcome students back on the first day of the school year Aug. 24.

The Board voted unanimously June 7 to make a decision about elementary school organization for the 2017 – 2018 school year by Oct. 18.

The Board plans to revisit documents produced by its 7-11 Committee, which recommended all five elementary schools remain open. The Committee also advised the District to explore options for leasing or developing its 414 E. Ojai Ave. property. The property houses OUSD administrative offices, A Place to Grow Preschool and Chaparral High School.
