The Casitas Municipal Water District (CMWD) is set to begin phase two of the plan for remodeling its offices at 1055 Ventura Ave. Meeting in regular session March 8, the CMWD Board of Directors approved a contract with the Ventura-based Staples Construction Inc. in the amount of $960,685.30.
The motion to approve the contract passed 4-1, with Director Pete Kaiser voting against it.
The Board initiated phase one of the remodeling in January 2016 when it allocated $56,590 for the design services of Mainstreet Architects and Planners Inc. At the time, CMWD General Manager Steve Wickstrum said the Board thought the District's regimen of services and administration had grown to the point at which a redesign was needed.
