Nearly 100 women gathered May 8 at the Ojai Art Center to hear speakers discuss areas of success and critical need within Ojai Valley education and social services, as part of the Ojai Women’s Fund’s (OWF) “Continuing the Conversation” effort.
Guest speakers were Terri Wolfe, executive director of Help of Ojai; Hank Bangser, superintendent of the Ojai Unified School District; and Bill Wagner, the director of the Nordhoff High School music department.
Ojai Women’s Fund founder Karen Evenden reminded the audience that in 2016, OWF’s first year as a local women’s philanthropy, almost 300 women became members and contributed more than $60,000 in grants to six local nonprofits to fund change-making programs in Ojai arts, education, environment, healthcare and social services.
