The Ojai Unified School District's (OUSD) School Board hosted a special meeting with members of the public May 22 to discuss the future of its 7.5-acre Ojai Avenue property.
The Board declared the property surplus Nov. 15, 2016.
Ojai City Manager Steve McClary expressed the city's interest in potentially leasing the property, at 414 E. Ojai Ave., in response to a statutorily required letter from the Board indicating the property’s surplus status.
The Board was obliged to notify the city, along with five other government agencies, of the property’s surplus status and enter into 90 days of “good faith negotiations” with any of the six that expressed interest in leasing the property.
