Curtain call: Playhouse trial is wrapping up; but decision likely to be delayed

The bench trial for Ojai Playhouse Theater owner Khaled Al-Awar's lawsuit against the Golden State Water Company (GSWC) is set to conclude with closing arguments June 2 in Ventura County Superior Court, although a final ruling from Judge Vincent O'Neill could still be several weeks away.
Testimony by witnesses called by both sides has centered upon GSWC's maintenance of its Ojai infrastructure and the cultural significance of the 100-year-old theater building. Former Playhouse projectionist Journey Wade-Hak, Ventura County Fire Captain Dave Zimmerman, GSWC Superintendent of Operations James Luongo, cinematographer James McKeachen and Ojai Mayor Johnny Johnston are among those who have taken the stand since the trial began May 17.
