One confirmed dead in Solimar plane crash

Emergency crews were dispatched to rugged terrain along State Highway 101 north of Ventura June 1 after receiving multiple reports of a plane crash in a natural gas field near Solimar Beach.
Steve Swindle, information officer for the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) confirmed the fuselage of a small plane had been located in the hills, along with one fatality. The fuselage appeared to be that of a small, single-engine Cessna-type aircraft, he said.
No further information as to the identity of the deceased or the origin of the plane had yet been determined as of press time Thursday he said.
