Is Starbucks gearing up to move a little nearer to the Ojai city limits? Evidence from the Ventura County Planning Division would seem to suggest so.
True, the last Starbucks rumor never panned out. That was the one in which the giant coffee corporation was thought to be moving to the Wendy's location on North Ventura Avenue in Mira Monte. Now, what may turn out to be rumor No. 2 has surfaced: A May 23 letter from the Planning Division to the city of Ojai reports a request for the review of a new project application that would have Starbucks demolish the Full of Beans Coffee House at 11534 N. Ventura Ave., approximately 550 feet from Wendy's.
According to the letter, the applicant for Planning Division Case No. PL17-0065 “requests that Planned Development Permit be granted that would authorize the demolition of a 2,026 square-foot coffee and bakery shop (Full of Beans) and the replacement of that structure with the construction of a new 2,026-square-foot, drive-thru coffee shop (Starbucks), located on two legal lots of a combined area of 28,994 square feet.”
