Neon signs, animated signs and signs emitting audible sounds or odors are unlawful in Ojai's public rights of way, and city staff is getting to work ensuring local business owners know it.
Since June 1, city staff has made contact with approximately 40 city businesses regarding non-compliant signage, said Ojai City Manager Steve McClary.

According to McClary, the enforcement effort was born out of the Ojai City Council's desire to enforce the local laws on the books.
