OTID is dead: City votes not to renew marketing effort

The Ojai City Council put to rest a months-long debate over the future of the Ojai Tourism Improvement District (OTID) June 13 with a unanimous vote to repeal the March 28 resolution reauthorizing the assessment district.
The OTID reauthorization triggered a referendum initiative against the decision, with referendum proponents pleading for balance between the needs of tourists and locals.
After City Clerk Cynthia Burell certified the referendum to the Council May 23, the body had two choices: repeal the resolution or put the matter before Ojai voters. They opted for the former.
