Facility getting through season on a wing and a prayer

It's the busy season at the Ojai Raptor Center (ORC), currently home to a flock of 57 great horned owl fledglings.
“Seventy five percent of intake comes during May through July,” said ORC Rehabilitation Supervisor Jaclyn DeSantis. “Most of the birds are orphaned during nesting season.”
Spring and summer tree trimming often causes young birds to be orphaned, she said.
“Tree trimming is the bane of our existence,” she said. “The trees can wait until fall. The birds can't.”
