Groundwater levels higher than expected

Groundwater in the Ojai basin continued to rise for a few weeks longer than usual this year. The peak arrived June 5 around 7 a.m., according to hydrogeologist Jordan Kear.
“The recharge this year was actually higher than our model predicted,” Kear told the Ojai Basin Groundwater Management Agency's (OBGMA's) Board of Directors when it met in regular session June 29. When heavier rains follow several dry years, he explained, the basin's increased storage capacity tends to accommodate greater recharge.
