Ojai City Council rules yet again on the fate of leaf blowers

After an additional 90 minutes of deliberation and public comment concerning leaf blower regulations, Ojai City Councilman Paul Blatz’s motion to place operational and performance standards on leaf blowers used in the city was defeated by a 2-to-3 vote.
Blatz also argued on behalf of an annual license and an equipment certification requirement. 
The Council instead moved to keep in place its current leaf blower ordinance that dates back to 1998.
“We’re right back to where we were five years ago, Mr. Mayor,” said Blatz to Ojai Mayor Johnny Johnston after the vote, expressing frustration at the Council’s lack of progress on the issue.
