Short-term rental ban has been costly to city, and has produced mixed results

Fifty-nine Ojai properties that had once been advertised as short-term rentals are off the market due to city enforcement activities, according to James Vega, assistant to Ojai City Manager Steve McClary.
The city is working with an additional 24 properties to get them in compliance with the city’s short-term rental ban, Vega said.
There are less short-term rentals on the market, but is that having an impact on housing availability for locals? That’s a more difficult question to answer.
