Four sentenced in drug scheme involving Ojai police station facility

Four people who pleaded guilty in a conspiracy to smuggle drugs into the Ventura County Jail via the Ojai Police Station have been sentenced.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Ventura resident Daniel Martinez, 26, was an inmate worker at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. During a random search for contraband at the jail last year, deputies found drugs in his possession.
Further investigation revealed that Martinez's wife, 27-year-old Ilyanna Hernandez of Ventura, had conspired with her husband to buy the drugs and smuggle them into the jail.
Martinez had earlier made arrangements with an inmate worker at the Ojai station, 37-year-old Michael Curiale of Thousand Oaks, to smuggle the drugs into the jail for him.
